First Alert Weather: Temperature whiplash for the start of December
The first days of December will feature a number of breezy days with fluctuating temperatures.
WAUSAU, Wis. (WSAW) -December is the start of Meteorological Winter, which will last until the end of February. It has been feeling like winter lately with chilly conditions kicking off the month on Thursday. November in Wausau & Rhinelander had above-average temperatures and precipitation.
A few passing clouds and not as cold for Thursday night into Friday morning. Lows prior to midnight in the upper 10s to near 20, then slowly rising back into the low to mid 20s leading up to daybreak on Friday.
Friday features more clouds than intervals of sun and breezy. A bit milder with highs in the upper 30s to near 40. It will be brisk and chilly for the Wausau Holiday Parade on Friday evening. Be sure to dress in at least a couple of layers to stay warm. Temps during the parade will be in the low to mid 30s with wind chill values in the 20s. Clouds will be common Friday night as a cold front drives through the region later Friday evening into the overnight hours. Light snow is likely in the Northwoods, starting after 8 PM, while snow showers are possible in Central Wisconsin. Accumulations by early Saturday morning of a coating to 1″ is possible. Just enough to make for some slippery conditions on the roads. Rather breezy Friday night into early Saturday with lows by morning in the low to mid 10s.
Staying brisk and chilly on Saturday with a good deal of sunshine. Highs struggle to reach the upper 10s to low 20s. Sunday is breezy with a partly to mostly cloudy sky. Highs in the mid 20s.
The next weather maker is on the way for Monday with snow showers. Highs on Monday are in the mid to upper 20s. A fair amount of sunshine Tuesday with highs in the mid 20s. Another round of snow showers is possible later Tuesday night and on Wednesday morning. Clouds could break for some sun by the afternoon on Wednesday with highs in the low 20s. Next Thursday, December 8th is partly cloudy with highs near 30.
