First Alert Weather: Storms wind down Thursday night and return Friday
Hazy, hot and humid weather will return Friday with strong afternoon thunderstorms possible.
WAUSAU, Wis. (WSAW) - The heat wave goes on today across the Wisconsin River Valley. Sunshine along with some afternoon clouds and a risk of scattered showers or storms in the northern half of the area later in the day. Some storms could be strong with gusty winds, hail, and downpours. Highs in the upper 80s to low 90s.
Any evening storms will wind down, otherwise some clouds tonight and warm with lows in the mid 60s to near 70. Friday will be very warm and humid. A cold front will be shifting toward the Badger State as the day wears on, likely sparking showers and storms from west to east from the mid-afternoon into the evening hours. There is a chance that these storms could also be strong with gusty winds, downpours, and hail. Highs in the mid to upper 80s.
In the wake of this front, not as hot or humid locally this weekend. A good deal of sunshine on Saturday and Sunday with afternoon highs in the low to mid 80s. Monday there may be a weak front sliding through the region with a mix of sun and clouds. A chance of showers or a storm during the afternoon. High in the low 80s. Partly cloudy and pleasant on Tuesday with highs in the upper 70s. More sun than clouds Wednesday with highs rebounding into the low 80s. Some sun next Thursday with a chance of showers or storms later in the day. High in the mid 80s.
