Your Town Marshfield: Buck-A-Neer Supper Club
MARSHFIELD, Wis. (WSAW) - Supper Clubs are a Wisconsin tradition, and the Buck-A-Neer Supper Club has been a staple for over 50 years.
Located in the small community or Rozellville, 10 minutes outside of Marshfield, customers come back each week because they say there’s not another place like it.
“The food here is delicious. It always has been. It’s my favorite restaurant,” Dan McHugh said.
When McHugh walks into the restaurant, he says he gets a feeling of “welcomeness.”
Rozellville is a community with one street and two restaurants. But the 100-plus-year-old structure sticks out.
“It’s got really good people. And it’s a place that you can come and you can talk to anyone, just about,” Cathy Gorst said.
The old “Cheers” slogan is “you want to go where everybody knows your name.” At the Buck-A-Neer, customers feel that’s the case.
“It’s good people and it’s just a good place to be,” McHugh said.
The restaurant has gone through numerous challenges in its many years of business, most recently a fire that shut down the restaurant for six months.
“The first couple of nights they were open, they had so many people in. They just, they were wall to wall people,” Gorst said.
The crowds are a testament to a place the community calls home, and a friendly atmosphere.
“They take care of us,” McHugh said.
