WAUSAU, Wis. (WSAW) -

While several record high temperatures were recorded across Wisconsin the past weekend, temperatures will turn a little cooler for the beginning of the work week, with high temperatures still remaining in the 80s and night time lows in the upper 60s.

There will be occasional shower and thunderstorm chances for many of the next several days, mainly between 4 p.m. – 8 p.m. as the heat continues to help trigger the isolated shower and thunderstorms this week.

Most heat index values will remain near 90° for the rest of the week

While organized areas of severe thunderstorms are not anticipated for most of the week, there will be occasional thunderstorms that produce small hail, wind gusts up to 40 mph, as well as brief downpours for the rest of the week.

A better chance for stronger storms may arrive later this week for Friday evening, as a stronger cold front will roll through northern Wisconsin. While it is several days out, there may be a First Alert Weather Day needed for the severe storm threat later this week.

Expect a small cool down in temperatures and humidity values for the weekend, as highs drop back closer to 80°.
