MARSHFIELD, Wis. (WSAW) - A donor-supported home called “Cattails Cottage” is helping cancer patients who travel for care at Marshfield Clinic in Marshfield.

Cattails Cottage opened last summer after the American Cancer Society shut down the Hope Lodge across the street.

Cattails Cottage provides enough space for 11 patients to stay while going through treatment.

The home has everything including two kitchens, two living rooms and an outdoor patio.

Cattails Cottage is supported by the community, volunteers, businesses and donors to provide cancer patients free lodging living 40 miles away or more.

“Our providers and staff immediately being able to offer Cattails Cottage as a resource to them and to their family members traveling with them is just a huge sigh of relief and we hear from patients all the time how grateful they are to have this resource here,” Marshfield Clinic Health System Chief Philanthropy Officer Teri Wilczek said.

Patients travel from all over the State of Wisconsin and the U.P. to stay at Cattails Cottage.
