State Patrol confirms boy, 6, fatally hit by school bus

AUBURNDALE, Wis. (WSAW) - A child struck and killed by a school bus Monday in Wood County has been identified as a 6-year-old boy. Sgt. Jon Pedersen said the family is requesting privacy and the boy’s name will not be released.

Pedersen confirmed a bus was involved but said there is nothing criminal, calling the incident ‘absolutely horrible’.

The crash happened around 7 a.m. March 8 on County Road Y near North Road near Auburndale.

Sgt. Pedersen said reconstruction investigators are examining the vehicle, but there is a lack of witnesses.

Two extended family members of the victim told NewsChannel 7′s Drew Sutherland it was a horrendous tragedy and the family will not be giving a statement at this time.
